In 2022, PEFA was established to create a community for female-identifying attorneys by providing mentorship, financial resources and networking opportunities that empower women to promote ethical, diverse and inclusive representation in the entertainment industry.
To support aspiring female-identifying entertainment attorneys, PEFA raises funds from members and donors to provide women law school graduates with scholarships to help defray the costs of bar exam preparation.
The primary selection criteria to be considered for scholarship are:
1. The applicant must self-identify as female;
2. The applicant must demonstrate interest and intent to practice entertainment law;
3. The applicant must be preparing to take the CA or NY State bar exam within the next year
Other criteria that will be considered include financial need, academic achievements, extracurricular activities, community involvement, and life experiences.
Grants issued will be $3,000 per recipient to cover bar prep fees, living costs and exam fees at the recipient’s discretion. The number of grants awarded is contingent upon donations, but PEFA will award at least one grant.
Applications are due on Friday May 5th, 2023.
All applicants will receive an email notification from PEFA as to their award or non-award by 5/31/2023.
